Increase in guaranteed minimum wage
The new social agreement signed on 25 April 2019 provides for a 10% increase in the guaranteed minimum wage over two years, 5% from July 2019 and 5% in July 2020.
The amounts of the SMIG and SMAG (minimum wage in the agriculture sector) were set by a decree published in the Official Bulletin No.6790 of 27 June. Thus:
- From 1 ster July 2019, the statutory minimum wage (SMIG) for an hour's work will be fixed at DH 14.13 for the liberal professions and the industrial and commercial sectors. This amount will increase to 14.81 DH from 1st July 2020.er juillet 2020.
- For the agriculture sector, the legal minimum wage (SMAG) for a day's work is fixed at DH73.22, with effect from 1 July 2019. This amount will increase to 76.70 DH from 1 July 2020. The decree also emphasises that the application of this measure must in no way eliminate or reduce the benefits in kind of agricultural employees.
